What is a Broiler Chicken?

It has been a tradition on family farms for decades to rear broiler chickens and has become even more popular in recent times because of the extensive knowledge that is now available to us all regarding the our own health and the value of what we eat to our overall wellbeing.

A Broiler is any chicken that is bred and raised specifically for meat production. Most broilers reach slaughter weights between 8 – 10 weeks of age however, slower growing breeds reach slaughter weights between 14 – 16 weeks of age.
